Selling girl scout cookies doesnt necessarily teach the young girls a gender specific role that they are expected to fill. Unless you attribute selling cookies to cooking in some twisted connection. What it teaches them is the capitalist idea that working for something is the best way to go about obtaining it. Rather this isnt the best or most efficient way. The best way is to find little nitches where one can get what one needs. This isnt to say that some things need to be worked for. America figures the younger you teach em the more ingrained it is into their heads and the less likely they are to fight against the system.

deconstruction

So for our assignment I decided to deconstruct my friend dave picou. Daves a really smart guy so I figured he would be a good target to try this on. So I waited for him to say something. He began saying something about warcraft 3 so I jumped in. What is warcraft 3? he looked somewhat confused and then said its an online game where you choose a race and build up your forces to try and take over the other players bases. I said what is a game? He looked even more confused now and said a game is a competition between 2 or more people. This continued until he finally had to use the dredded word thing in one definition. Then I explained to him how our language is based on a series of assumption and abstract ideas. He thought about it for a moment then said, "So if the breakdown of every word is reduced to the word thing, the any word can mean anything and therefore us discussing this 1 makes no sense and 2 serves no purpose. We could replace any of our words with any other word and essetially it would have the same meaning." Daves a genious.
